We are three education students pursuing careers in elementary education, music education, and English Language education. Between the three of us we are striving to work with students from all K-12 grades. As students ourselves, we recognize the importance of a quality education. We are also familiar with the challenges that many students of all ages, across America face with education. With that being said, because we are future teachers, we have also experienced the other side of the classroom. We know the struggles teachers face with reduced funding, lack of resources, and the negative impacts those have on their students.
Julie McKnew
My name is Julie McKnew and I am a junior at Longwood University. I am majoring in Modern Languages with a concentration in English as a Second Language with a minor in Spanish. I am also in the education program. I will graduate in the spring of 2020 and be certified to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language to K-12 students. My plans for after graduation though is to join the Peace Corps and travel around the world teaching the English language to whoever needs to learn. I would like to eventually come back to the States and become certified to teach adult Immigrants and Refugees English. I have a deep passion for other languages and cultures, but mostly for education and making sure everyone has the equal opportunity to succeed.
